New babies!

We have new babies in the Nelson household! One of our Mollies gave birth to five babies a few days ago (we just discovered them yesterday, but they have probably been around a few days.) They are the size of a large grain of rice. Isn't it exciting!? No??? You don't think baby fish are exciting? Well, we don't get out much...

Proud Mama. When she swims by the light you can actually see that she has two more babies in her belly! Live-bearing fish are so much fun. (Seriously - this is what we do for fun...)

Yogurt, anyone? This is what happens when your kid reaches the "I wanna do it myself" stage:

No spoon needed.

Mamma, it's all GONE!

Christmas 2008

Christmas this year was a whirlwind of fun and excitement for Evan. We began the day early Christmas morning opening presents and stockings (from Santa.) Evan got a big box of building blocks and a wooden train set from Mom and Dad, and lots and lots of bubble bath from Santa.

Why bubble bath? Because Evan loves three things: bananas, Daddy and BUBBLES. Here he is Christmas morning getting squeaky clean before we headed to Grandma Nelson's.
"More bubbles, Mom? I think I need more bubbles."

Here's a great video of Evan asking for more bubbles. I had an Even better one, but Evan stood up in the tub and Blogger doesn't allow nudity on this site. (Seriously though - in the age of creepy Internet predators I thought we better keep it rated G, just in case.)

After a big noontime feast at Grandma Nelson's (which I forgot to bring the camera to...and I forgot the gifts, and we were late...sheesh.) we headed over to Grandma and Grandpa Irvin's for Christmas dinner. Evan got some fun toys and this BIG box from Grandma...what could it be???
It's CARDBOARD HOUSE! How cute is that?! Evan loved it! He spent the rest of the night climbing inside, opening and closing the door and windows and "peeking out" at everyone. He even took a blankie inside and pretended to "go to sleep."

The fam showing off their Christmas spirit.
Okay, now a serious one. (Back, L to R: Shawn, Bruce, Jeremy and Alex. Front, L to R: Emily, Pamela and Evan.)
Evan was too tired out by the end of the night - all he wanted to do was nap on Grandpa's shoulder.

Today we went to celebrate the season with the Walter's side of the family. Evan had a great time playing with his second cousins - including when Jaxon and Evan took a ride on this horsey strapped to Dan's knee! How cute.

Three of the four sisters - Pat, Barb (Jeremy's Mom) and Diane.

And with that - MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all! Sorry we didn't get any cards sent out this year. We promise to do better next year. Have a blessed and happy 2009!

Our little man is growing up so fast! For nostalgia's sake I was looking through Christmas photos from last year (thanks to the digital age was literally have hundreds of photos from Christmas day alone) and found some cute one's I hadn't noticed before. Can you believe it? He looks so different now! Plus, I had forgotten a lot of little things: like how his left eye teared up all of the time, or that he had just learned to sit up on his own, he tried carrots for the first time Christmas Day, he couldn't crawl, he couldn't talk...its amazing how much they learn in one year!

The Orange Vest is Back...

Except this time...its on a cat. It fits Baxter even better than it fits Evan!

Daddy reading Evan a book. It was Daddy's turn after Mommy read it four times in a row. Its a cute book, but honestly, how many times can you read a poem about hippos and their bellybuttons without losing your mind?

You can really see Evan's new molar well in this photo. He has thirteen teeth now (from what I can see) and likes to use them on ME. When, oh when, will he stop biting!?

Playing in the snow this morning.

Trying to reach the shriveled up crabapples that are still on the tree.

A video of Evan trying his hand at shoveling snow.

Evan and Emma

This morning Evan decided he wanted to pick out some clothes to wear. He went digging in his drawers and pulled out an orange vest and his swimsuit (2 sizes too small.) He insisted we put them on over his PJ's...
On Wednesday night we visited the Neumanns. Emma and Evan had a great time playing together, and Emma even pushed Evan around in her toy car!

This is the best photo of baby Jonathan I took. By the time I remembered to break out the camera he was in his swing and my attempts at capturing a moving object were less than great.
P.S. Happy birthday Elsie (10th), Grandpa Nelson (11th), Uncle Sean (16th) and "Uncle" Justin (17th!)

Evan and Mom snuggling on the couch. Mom wishes she had combed her hair and put on some makeup today before taking this picture...
Last Christmas Barb (Jeremy's Mom) got Jeremy a football snack holder that plays the Fox NFL theme song (did I get that right honey? I should get mucho brownie points for that one.)
Anyway, this afternoon Evan, Jonas and I went to go play in the fresh snow outside and Evan decided he wanted to check out the garage. When I opened the door he ran over to the football and pointed (and said "ugh, ugh" which means "I want that " in Evanese) so I took it down for him. He immediately trudged back to the house and wanted to go inside and play with it. For the next 30 minutes he pushed the button over, and over, and over again...

Peek! Any snacks in there?

Here's a quick video of Evan and the football. Sorry its so dark.

Evan finds the presents under the tree...

Becky came over last night and dropped of a Christmas present...it only took Evan a few seconds after he noticed it under the tree to begin ripping into it. We still don't know what's in it (its not actually a humidifier) thank goodness, but he had fun tearing apart the wrapping paper!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Emma!

Emma turned two last Sunday! Her birthday party was yesterday, and Evan (and the rest of us) had a great time! Isn't she cute?
Evan played so hard that he decided to go "ni-night" for a while. He grabbed one of Emma's blankies and laid down for a minute.

Emma is just beginning to enjoy "dress up" and decided to change her outfit for us all. What a pretty little princess!

Playing together (and showing off Evan's Dora the Explorer tattoo.)

All the kids on the couch. This was the best photo I took of all 6 of them. Getting them all to sit in one spot was no easy task! (Mason, Evan, Emma, Madison, Natalie and baby Johnathan.)

Thanksgiving Day Photos

Thanksgiving Day we visited Jeremy's Grandma's house for an afternoon dinner, and then headed to my (Emily's) Mom's house for dinner in the evening. In true Thanksgiving fashion, we all ate until our bellies ached.

Evan's Great-Grandma has a mirror hanging behind her couch. It only took Evan a few second to "find" the other boy in the mirror and begin taunting him...

Evan and his Great-Grandma Eileen.

Evan and his Auntie Karla (and Grandpa in the background.)

Evan loves to wear his Grandpa's hat.

Evan truly was the entertainment of the evening - here he is in his Great-Grandma's chair. Why the smiling face? Because Grandma has a massage pad on her chair. Daddy turned it on for Evan and he LOVED it. I think Santa may have to bring us one. It was the quietest he was all day. After the initial giggles, he sat in the chair for ten whole minutes and didn't say a peep! He just sat there with a big smile on his face.

Here's a video of Evan in the chair - for those of you that don't know him it may not seem like much, but for those of you that DO know Evan, know that he is a very active child, and he almost NEVER sits still...especially for more than 5 seconds at a time!

Grandpa showed Evan how to ring a bell that his Great-Grandma got from Germany.
Tonight (Friday) we braved the cold weather and went to see the Holiday Stroll parade. There were real reindeer and a big firetruck with Santa on it! Evan had this look on his face pretty much the entire time. I couldn't tell if he was fascinated or bored...
