You may have noticed that we haven't updated our blog in a week and a half... Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get any of the pictures off of my camera, because someone (I won't name names,) stole the cord that goes from my camera to my computer, and now it is M.I.A. As soon as I find it (or purchase a new one, whichever comes first) we will post an update.

But, while I'm on here:

CONGRATULATIONS
to Jim and Jess,
WELCOME BABY ETHAN!
We are all so happy for you!!!

Evan's new thing this week has been to "type" at the computer desk. He climbs up into the chair, pulls out the drawer and gets to work. At least he quit throwing the mouse down the basement stairs through the cat door...
Evan's first masterpiece on the computer.

And here we can see Evan's very first goose-egg. He was playing with Daddy on Saturday night and fell into the side of the hope chest. Poor baby! He only cried for a minute or two, but Mommy was worried. We checked him for a concussion and made him sit with a frozen bag of peas for a while. Evan was more upset that we made him sit with an icepack than he was about bumping his head! He hates to sit still even for a moment.

Here is a video of Evan rattling off some words. He has quite the vocabulary now, but no sentences yet. Here are a few of his favorite things: Daddy, Nanas (bananas) and Bubbles.

LESSON LEARNED:

If your child is quiet for any length of time, you need to go check on him - and not assume that he is quietly playing...

Ten minutes ago Evan was busily playing with his new Farm Set from Justin and Katie. Naturally, Emily took the opportunity to check her email and play around on Facebook. Not a good idea. Evan decided that farming with real dirt would be much more fun than playing farmer with fake dirt...LESSON LEARNED.

He may be a little stinker but I love him anyway...

UPDATE:

$5 and 40 minutes later... don't worry, I still learned my lesson.

I bought two yards of canvas a week ago intending to sew a sleeve/cover for this particular plant. After tonight's incident I figured now was as good a time as any.

Evan checking out my craftsmanship.
"Mom, what happened? You covered up my play dirt."

This morning we were treated to a short visit by two LARGE Pileated Woodpeckers in our backyard. We have a big, dying tree on our boulevard and it has become a great attraction for local woodpeckers. These guys were about a foot tall and 18 inches long.

Yummy! I can make my own snow-cone!

This morning we went for a walk to work to feed Mom's fish and then played in the yard for a while. Evan LOVES the snow.

Trying, with eventual success, to get the ice chunk in his mouth. Darn scarf keeps getting in the way!

Munching on some snow.

We had spaghetti for dinner last night - Evan's favorite! I think as parents we are require to document all spaghetti-eating incidents on film. No matter what, kids are always cute when they eat spaghetti.
All snuggled up with my PJ's.

On Monday Becky came over to play. "Hi-FIVE Auntie Becky!"

"Watch me do my Frankenstein dance!"

Cutest video ever! Its really too bad that its so dark - its much darker on the computer than it is when I view it on my camera and I don't know how to fix it. Hearing Evan "tell us how it is" is the cutest part anyway, so be sure to turn up your sound! (The video is of Evan playing peek-a-boo with the laundry room door.)

The Children's Museum

Yesterday we visited the Children's Museum. Evan had a blast playing with the other kids and running around exploring. We actually lost him in the ant tunnel for a few minutes! He is very self-assured and will run off by himself without thinking twice about where Mom and Dad are. Daddy went in to get him and he came running out giggling. Luckily, there was only one way to get in or out - but the tunnel was build for kids two-feet high...so watching Jeremy trying to fit through was pretty funny.

Evan is so tall! He is almost 34 inches (with his shoes on.) Amazing how fast they grow.
With so many things to explore and do at the Children's Museum, the question of the day was:

"What will Evan grow up to be?"

An architect,

a dendrologist (he's in a tree,)

a secret shopper,

A stage performer,

a master of pyrotechnics,

a plumber (Evan's favorite so far),

a musician,

A spelunker or archaeologist (he's in a cave),

a crossing guard,

a bus driver,

an entomologist (that is one HUGE ant),
or a gardener?

But, of course - like so many other children - Evan's favorite thing of the day was the automatic hand-dryer.
