Wow. Its been a while since I last posted.

Lots has been going on the past few weeks, mostly with fundraising events at work, so I haven't had the time to update this thing. A few things have happened all at once over the past three weeks:

1. Evan is talking. A lot. he has a "yes" or "no" answer for everything, but the cutest part is that when you tell him no, he says "pweeeeeeze?" (please.) Too cute. He is adding more things to his repertoire of words each day. He does lots of animal sounds now - a horse, lion, kitty, puppy, pig, chicken, bird, monkey, chick...and duck. The duck is interesting. You have to watch the video for it to make sense:

2. Evan has fallen in love. With Thomas the Train. I bought a $3 Thomas movie at Target the other day because he LOVES trains. Since Evan never sits down long enough to watch TV I thought it was three dollars wasted. I was wrong. He has begged (pweeeeeze!) to watch it every day now. I think a few times he even tricked us into watching it twice. Needless to say, he now has a Thomas the Tank wooden engine, which he sleeps with at night and carries around with him all day. Since he never really got attached to a pacifier, blanket or other toy I don't really mind. Its just a bit uncomfortable to roll over on a wooden train at night, but whadda ya' do. He's actually watching the movie right now, which is why I have time to get on the computer for once.

3. Spring is HERE! I am SOOOOO happy! I totally jumped the gun and planted a few veggies in my new Mother's Day gift (a bit early) - my new cedar container garden. I am so excited for the trees to get some leaves, its not even funny. Here is a quick video of us enjoying the weather.

Happy Easter!

Some-bunny wanted to wish you all a Happy Easter!!!

On Saturday we died eggs and spent the day outside in the yard - it was BEAUTIFUL out!

This is Evan's "trying-really-hard" face. Here he is drawing on an egg with a white crayon. He pushed a little hard and broke the egg but we died it anyhow. Red40 makes everything taste better.

Our egg-ceptional dye jobs. (the pink one in front is Evan's cracked crayon creation.)

On Sunday, we went to Jeremy's Aunt Janet's and had Easter dinner, and then to Barb and Rex's for some egg hunting fun. It was a great day. You can't tell from the pictures, but the sun was shining and the thermometer read 60 in the sun!
Looking for Easter Eggs at Grandma and Grandpa Novek's.

Ooh! Another one!

(Through a mouthful of chocolate and jelly beans) "Mom, look! There's candy inside!!!"

Proof that its cold here: our Christmas cactus is BLOOMING. (Recognize the planet Muriel?)

And this is what Evan was doing while I updated the blog: trying on some new "earrings" - a.k.a. alphabet stickers. (VIDEO)

Today we took a walk/wagon ride to one of the parks by our house. Evan LOVES his little red wagon and throws a a fit every time we go into the garage and he realizes we are going for a car ride and not a wagon ride.

Weee...slide! Notice the "smudge" over Evan? That's an Evan nose-print. He likes to get really close to the camera.

This past weekend we took a trip to Lark Toys. Its a great place if you haven't been there - the carousel is $1 and the rest of the place is free! Well, not really, because we always end up buying something...

Check out the blue and purple waterfall they have at the mini-golf course. A few more years and we'll add that to the list of things we can do!
Evan really liked the Troll Station. I think in the summer months they have a little train ride that the kids can go on. Too cute.

p.s. I had some really great ideas for an April Fool's Day blog entry, but the day came and went and I forgot! Oh well, I'll save it for next year I guess...

Last Saturday we took a trip to the MN Zoo. Evan had a lot more fun than he did last year - all of the animals were out and about and he really enjoyed the birds and aquarium. He wouldn't go near the touch-tank, but he stared at the fish for about 20 minutes. It was sunny, but a little chilly, so other than visiting the Wells Fargo Farm we opted to stay indoors for the day.

And here we are at the zoo...wait, that's not us - that's a family of Gibbons! My mistake.

The orchids in the Tropics were all in bloom. They smelled so good! It was almost enough to cover up the smell of monkey pee.

This poor duck was confused. He thought he was a flamingo - standing on one leg with his head tucked in. Doesn't he know he can just lay down?

Funny-looking fish.

The real reason we went to the zoo was that the baby farm animals were out - and we wanted to match some real animals with the names Evan knows from books. Piggies are usually his favorite - but when we got to the pig barn the Mama Pig squealed and scared Evan. He shook his head "no" and backed up, like, 10 feet. He was happy to play on the fake pig outside, however.
Giddy-up! Evan's legs are finally long enough to reach the base of this horsey! We went over to Grandma and Grandpa Irvin's last Tuesday for Grandpa Bruce's birthday.

What a cutie-pie.
