Mom's Stay-cation: Friday = Family Fun Day
This afternoon we braved the chilly weather for a quick trip out on the boat. Our fabulous beach from last year is no longer, thanks to the high water and fast current we had in March. Hopefully we will find a new one close by this year.A rare moment where Evan is hugging Jonas instead of tormenting him.(Thursday) Evan helping me water plants (or sticks, as it appears.) This poor plant was forgotten one afternoon in the blistering sun. Whoops. Its coming back - we do this to it (by accident) every year and every year it comes back.I took this photo because in 15 years when Evan is graduating from high school I want to remember how little he was next to this apple tree - that is, if the poor thing survives until then. Evan is always swinging around (and around, and around) the tree. So much that he has polished the bark to a shine with his palm!Super Evan to the rescue! I just have to add that while I was uploading this photo Evan came over to see what I was doing and said: "I runnin' and jumpin' super fast! Then I fell down and went boom." That pretty much sums up every day here with Evan.
Mom's Stay-cation: The Beach
On Wednesday Evan and I decided to take a trip to the beach with my pal, Sarah, who I haven't seen since before Christmas! It was a beautiful 86 degrees and sunny with a slight breeze - great beach weather! Below: I made Sarah pose for the camera.
Evan: "So, Mom, I've been thinking...I think you should buy me a pool. C'mon, look how cute I am!"
Evan: "Oh, snap! Did you just take my picture when I was making that face!? I can't believe you did that!"
Mom's Stay-cation: Toddler Tuesday at the MOA
We hit the Mall of America for some Toddler Tuesdays Nickelodeon Universe action. Evan is finally big enough for the bumper cars! Can you believe it? Well, just because he fit the height requirement didn't mean that he really knew how to drive it, but with an unlimited ride wristband I figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. He drove around in a big circle for most of the ride. Lucky for Evan, there was only one other kid on the track so they managed to only have one collision.
Gotta' ride Dora's favorite train, Azul!
We built and raced some cars at Lego Land
And visited the butterfly garden. Evan was a bit scared of the butterflies. This was the closest I could get him to them to take a photo. He squeaked and grabbed my hand every time one flew over him.
And we had a mini-fashion show. There were a million (okay, 500+) students from various schools at the MOA while we were there, and so of course there were a bunch of vendors hocking cheap junk to the kids. There was a hat stand that caught Evan's fancy, so we decided to have a fashion show. Enjoy.
This one is called "One hat, two hat, Evan has a Blue hat."
