Jeremy's New 'Do

Jeremy has been asking me to cut his hair for over a month now. I like it when his hair is a bit longer, but he always wants to buzz it off. Well, this time I had a little fun with it! I was joking around and gave him a mullet-hawk, fully planning on buzzing it off after we took a picture...

...but Jeremy decided that he liked the top half as a mohawk and wanted me to dye it red for him. His exact words? "I'm going to be 32 this year so I figured this is my last chance to have a little fun!" I guess I can't argue with that!

Eventful trip to the zoo

We splurged and bought a pass to the MN Zoo - a place all three of us love to go! On the way up last weekend we got a flat tire, or "broken wheel" as Evan tells the story. Thank goodness Jeeps come with a full size spare and not a donut - we would have had to miss the zoo!

Even with the flat tire, it was a day well spent. We look forward to the many more trips to the zoo we will be taking this year!

Wow - it's been over a month since our last post! We have had a busy household the past few weeks. We have been many places and seen lots of things...and forgotten the camera (or the battery) for most of them. This past weekend Papa came up from California to visit. We all went to the zoo and Evan had a chance to spend some time with his Uncle Alex and show off his swimming skills. The animals at the zoo must all have spring fever - just like us! - they were all out and about on Sunday!The touch tank.

...and Evan wearing Grandpa's hat. Evan has such a sense of humor. He is constantly telling me "I'm just joking, Momma. Its a joke." He loves to make everyone laugh, either by putting on a funny hat or by his acts of physical comedy that I have yet to catch on video. What a fun little man he is growing up to be!

A rare moment where we are both looking at the camera! Evan has just begun to "pose" for pictures - where he actually smiles and puts his arm around you. Its great! Who said two's are terrible? I'm loving it! Plus - this is the age of communication. Evan is just like his Momma - he never stops talking! He tells me long stories, sings "his songs" in the car, and will strike up a conversation with just about any stranger or child he sees. What a great kid.

Budding Artist

Time to break out the Mommy Brag Book -- Evan drew his first person with a head, arms and legs! Up to this point his "people" have all consisted of a circle with two eyes - but on Sunday he drew the above picture of "Daddy" complete with a head, two eyes, a mouth, two arms (both on the right side) and four legs (maybe he wanted him to be extra fast)!!! My little budding artist in the making.

Ice fishing at Pottery Pond

The Red Wing Rotary Club had a Kid's Ice Fishing Contest this past Saturday. Although I'm not a big fan of ice...or fishing, I am in Rotary and volunteered to help out. Jeremy brought Evan out for the last hour and a half. Although we didn't catch any fish, Evan had a good time - especially after DJ showed up! Eating a fish cookie. We made many treacherous trips across the frozen lake for more hot chocolate and cookies that day.

The only fish we "caught" that day was a tiny minnow (someone's leftover bait) that had frozen to the ground. Evan was pretty excited and insisted that we take it home. (We didn't.)
